This site is build for the sole purpose of one objective, of “recording” down my financial knowledge, my experiences, my track records, my methods and strategies and how I react to the random walks of financial markets.
Since 2009, at the age 25, I started trading on Wall Street, particularly NYSE, NASDAQ, CBOE Options and Globex/CME futures, going through the hardship, risking my personal money, reading books, books and more books on the financial markets.
During 2010 to 2011, I was inspired to join one of the big investment banks (Think Goldman Sachs SG, JP Morgan AM in Singapore), and more prefably other buy-side financial institutions, small boutique investment firms, private equity, hedge funds, market making, prop trading or HFT trading house.
By 26, I started my own portfolios, digging through resources off/online about trading, since information is free everywhere. The last word from ManageMoneyOnline.com, ‘Online’, meant that the use of information online and science to aid in money management, trading and investments.
While thinking of an MBA when I was 26, I had to look at how business were managed, business management, economics, and etc, which eventually had some linkage to business and finance. Specifically Fund house, IB, MM, and HFT firms on operations, how brokers run their brokerage, how analysts chunk out reports, how to attract investors, and some other trading related techniques and Alpha strategies.
With the majority of exchanges routing through high speed network computers, the history of pit traders, high tech and sophisticated computers will take precedence. Added to the recent globalization, most markets are already inter-correlated, and different asset classes and securities prices will be harder to value.
In year 2011, I am happy with the performance of my portfolios, and so the capital for studying should go to my portfolios, isn’t it ? I decided to give up the idea of education to concentrate on my trading. Afterall an MBA is just another business for the education sector.
Having “lived” longer than any other retail traders / investors, I have implemented successfully strategies, integrating some of the professional tools with Tons of excel spreadsheets full of Financial Maths formulas, internet enabled computers automating the process of calculation, decisions making, buying and selling on Equities and Derivatives markets. Also includes carry trades and currency hedging with FX, and other fix-income boosting for an overall balance portfolio.
In 2012 at age 27, somehow, I finally decided that it was too much for my time. I took simple 3 paths to work on, namely :
#1 – Automated algorithmic trading
#2 – Plain old boring long term income investing.
#3 – Diversify my investments to other asset classes
Personal Achievements and glory so far
- At 23 – My first Credit Card
- At 25 – My first trade on NYSE, executed box-spread arbitrage and a huge loss on a China ADR stock that halted trading.
- At 27 – My first private property in Singapore.
This is my journey of my personal investment and commitments I took, and the life long skills which I will carry through my life.
